MORGANITE GEM STONE

Morganite belongs to the beryl family of gems and is also known as Pink Beryl, Rose Beryl, Pink Emerald or Cesian Beryl. It is light pink to rose pink, turning pinker when temperature treated. It can also be found orangey-yellow and color banding is common in morganite. Morganite was first discovered in the 20th century in Pala California along with other gemstones like Tourmaline and Kunzite. Being scarce and rare, it grew popoular and got the attention of George Frederick Kunz whom in 1911 suggested to name the pink variety of Beryl Morganite. Its major sources are Brazil, Afganistan, Madagascar & the United States of America.
